Developing Literacy Skills in Disadvantaged Schools through the "Prince Charming’s Treasure" Caravan (2024-2025)

"Prince Charming’s Treasure" by Mihai Mănescu is an adventure novel for children, set in contemporary Bucharest, offering a fresh and engaging reinterpretation of Ion Creangă’s legendary character. The novel was published in December 2024 by Humanitas Junior.

The project aims to leverage the reimagined story of Harap-Alb, one of the most beloved works of Romanian literature, to encourage reading and improve literacy levels among students from 10 disadvantaged schools. Through the donation of approximately 1,000 books, the initiative provided access to high-quality reading materials, essential for the development of reading and comprehension skills.

A central aspect of the project was the organization of author meetings in five of these schools. These sessions were designed not only as opportunities for students to hear the story told by its very creator, but also as interactive discussion platforms focusing on the novel’s themes, characters, and messages. The author’s visit served as a catalyst for sparking children's interest in reading,

transforming the act of reading into an interactive and motivational experience.
