IN DEVELOPMENT · PROGRAMME PROPOSED FOR 2027 BKFF AND EDUCATION THROUGH FILM

Film and Story for Every Child

From a story read to a story told through film.

We are preparing an education programme that connects film, reading and audiovisual creation for children aged 10–14, prioritising those who face barriers in accessing cultural activities.

The concept includes film-education workshops, film and reading meetings in communities, hands-on creative exercises and activities within BKFF. Children will be able to explore how a story is built through image, sound and editing, then work on their own ideas.

WHAT THE PROGRAMME INCLUDES

Four ways into the story

Film-education workshops

How a story is built through image, sound and editing.

Film and reading in communities

Meetings that take the book and the film to places with limited access to cultural activities.

Hands-on creative exercises

Children work on their own ideas and carry them through to a finished piece.

Activities within BKFF

The programme connects to the festival, where children meet films and creators.

CONTINUITY

What remains after the last workshop.

The programme is also designed for continuity: reusable resources and working sessions with teachers or youth workers, so that some of the activities can be run again.

The programme's audience is children aged 10–14, distinct from the festival's main audience of 8–12. Each activity will have its own age recommendation.

FOR FUNDERS

What a partner can fund

The workshops, children's participation, travel to communities, training the facilitators, the educational materials and the programme's evaluation.

What we want to follow

Understanding of film language, confidence in creative expression and the experience of taking part. Results will be assessed through age-appropriate instruments, used before and after the activities for which that comparison is relevant.

THE PROGRAMME'S STATUS

The concept is defined and the activities are proposed for 2027.

The calendar, the scale and the locations will be confirmed once funding and implementation partners are in place.

We do not yet have a confirmed funder for this programme.

HOW THIS LINKS TO OUR IMPACT AREAS
