Three funding priorities

Cinema Europa has returned to the life of Bucharest through films, an audience and a community that takes part in running it. Its current activity is sustained mainly by the cinema's own revenue. The next stage calls for dedicated investment in the space where we meet.

Through Loc cu Loc, we invite companies to contribute to restoring the seats and improving conditions in the auditorium. The campaign is part of a wider modernisation plan that covers projection, sound and audience comfort.

What a partner can fund

• A stage of the Loc cu Loc campaign, with defined works and costs.
• A technical component of the modernisation, after assessing the need and the solution.
• Access for groups to cultural activities, through a budget separate from the investment in the auditorium.

How we work together

We start from a feasible stage with its own budget and calendar. The company can contribute financially, with equipment or with relevant expertise. The form of the contribution and each party's responsibilities are agreed before implementation.

What we measure and report

The stage completed, the related costs and the improvements made to the space. For activities with separately funded access, we report attendance and the audience's experience. We document the modernisation's progress through photographs and updates.

Bucharest Kids Film Festival offers children encounters with European films, creators and hands-on cinema experiences. The festival creates a context in which children can ask questions, compare perspectives and begin telling stories of their own.

The 2025 edition brought together 1,250 children and 55 films from 15 European countries, according to the festival's presentation. We are building on that experience to continue the festival and to develop its educational component.

WHO IT IS FOR

The festival's main audience is children aged 8–12.

Parents and teachers come with them and can continue the conversations started at the screenings.

Each activity has its own age recommendation.

What a partner can fund

• Running an edition of the festival or a component of its programme.
• Workshops and discussions facilitated by professionals.
• Participation for children whose access is limited by cost or travel, in collaboration with schools and local organisations.
• Educational materials and activities that continue the film experience.

How we work together

We agree the edition or component funded, the audience, the budget and the calendar. The funding can support a workshop programme, access for a group of schools, or part of running the festival. Contributions are coordinated with the edition's other funding sources.

What we measure and report

Attendance, schools involved, places with funded access and activities delivered. For workshops that allow before-and-after assessment, we follow children's understanding of film language and their confidence in expressing their own ideas. We publish the method and the assessment period alongside the results.

The Susțin volunteer platform connects young people with projects, people and hands-on experience. At Cinema Europa, at BKFF and in other initiatives, participants work with the public, contribute to organising and communication, and can grow into coordinating activities.

A community of around 200 volunteers has formed around Susțin, some 100 of them involved at Cinema Europa, according to the organisation's September 2026 update. Growing this community needs coordination, training and tools that make taking part simpler.

WHAT WE WANT TO DEVELOP

A clearer path from a first involvement to taking on a project: orientation, hands-on experience, feedback and new responsibilities. The digital platform supports that path and the link to available projects.

• Coordinating the programme and training those who work with volunteers.
• Practical workshops, mentoring and learning resources.
• Developing and maintaining the digital platform, starting from the needs of the team and the participants.
• Access to opportunities to get involved, including logistical support where needed.

How we work together

A company can fund a development stage, a training programme or a period of coordination. Its specialists can take part in mentoring and relevant workshops, depending on the community's needs and the Susțin team's capacity.

What we measure and report

Sign-ups, active participants, continuity of involvement and activities delivered. We track separately the progress towards coordinating roles, participants' feedback and the skills practised. We use the same definition of “active” across all reports.
